Cookie Policy

Cookies are small files a website stores on your device. We use them to make real-time, last-minute booking actually work — and to be upfront, here's exactly what we use and why.

What cookies are, and why we use them

Cookies are small text files saved to your browser when you visit a website. They let a site remember information about your visit — like what's in your cart, or whether you're logged in — the next time you load a page or come back later.

Stand-by Tours is built around real-time, last-minute deals: seats can go from available to sold out in seconds, and a stand-by rate is only ever held for you for a short window. Cookies (and similar technologies like local storage) are what make that possible — keeping your session, your held seat, and your preferences intact while you move through the site, without asking you to re-enter everything on every page.

Types of cookies we use

We group cookies into four categories. Only the first is required to keep the site working.

Always active

Strictly Necessary / Essential Cookies

These make the platform work at all — holding your seat during a flash-sale countdown, keeping you securely logged in, running your cart, processing payment, and detecting fraud or booking manipulation. Because stand-by deals move in real time, disabling these would break the core booking flow, so they can't be turned off.

Optional

Performance & Analytics Cookies

Help us understand how travelers navigate live deals — page load speed, which deals convert, where people drop off — and help us spot unusual patterns like bot activity or attempts to game the stand-by system.

Optional

Functional Cookies

Remember your preferred currency, language, and recent search locations, so the next flash deal you see is already set up the way you like it — useful when speed matters.

Optional

Marketing & Targeting Cookies

Used to show you relevant last-minute local deals — on social media, partner sites, or as a reminder of a tour you looked at — rather than generic ads for things you'd never book.

How to manage or disable cookies

You're always in control of non-essential cookies. Use the button below to accept, decline, or choose exactly which categories apply on this site — or manage cookies directly through your browser's own settings, usually under a "Privacy," "Security," or "Cookies" section:

  • Chrome / Edge: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
  • Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data

Blocking or deleting Performance, Functional, or Marketing cookies won't stop you from using Stand-by Tours — you may just need to re-enter preferences like your currency or language more often. Strictly necessary cookies can't be disabled through a preference setting, since turning them off would break checkout and seat-holding while you're using the site — the only way to avoid them entirely is to not use the site.

Third-party cookies & integrations

A small number of trusted third parties set their own cookies when you use certain features of Stand-by Tours:

  • Payment processing: our checkout is powered by Stripe, which sets its own cookies to process your payment securely and prevent fraud.
  • Account & session infrastructure: our login and booking-session system is powered by Supabase, which uses cookies and similar storage to keep you signed in.
  • Translation: the language switcher in our header and footer translates the page in place using Google's Cloud Translation API — this sends the page's text to Google for translation, subject to Google's own privacy policy, but keeps you on standbytours.com the whole time rather than sending you to a separate Google page.

We don't currently run third-party analytics or advertising cookies beyond what's described above. If that changes as the platform grows, we'll name the specific tools here and update this page accordingly — this isn't boilerplate we intend to leave stale.

Policy updates & contact

We may update this Cookie Policy as our platform, or the cookies it relies on, change. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date at the top of this page.
